Learn About Joseph!

Joseph Fernandez is the owner of Bark to Brilliance K9 Behavioral Training and the official dog trainer for your dog when you partner with our company to work on your dog’s behavioral issues.

Formerly a licensed electrician, Joseph has been training dogs since he had his own beloved personal dog Mayhem (Great Dane) become reactive as a puppy. He originally mentored under his best friend, Christine Schnitzer of Tail to Tail training, many years ago to try to save Mayhem from possible behavioral euthanasia. It was during this time that Joseph discovered he had a natural love and talent for working with reactive and aggressive dogs. He loved the work of behavioral dog training so much that he continued mentoring under Tail to Tail Training for many years afterwards, before excitedly launching out under his own brand, Bark to Brilliance, in the Summer of 2026! He has been training the worst of the worst cases in Houston alongside Christine and her partner Toni (who live right next door) for years, and with as many lives as he gets to help improve, he wouldn’t change it for the world. Mayhem still helps Joseph all the time with helping rehabilitate reactive dogs that come through the program, and Christine and Toni of Tail to Tail Training remain both trusted friends AND professional allies in helping Joseph with training and rehabilitating your dog!

Joseph is a pretty awesome father and husband who enjoys going on any adventures he can. He likes hiking, camping, kayaking, skydiving, attending concerts, tattooing, listening to all kinds of music, galavanting around outdoors, watching movies, gardening, and exploring any and all new hobbies he can! One day Joseph wants to move to Hawaii and spend his time skydiving and learning how to surf. But until then… he loves growing Hibiscus, scream singing to random country music, and driving his wife and children crazy! Joseph is truly a “dog behavioral therapist” through and through, but he is also a passionate man of God and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. If you ever need someone to pray with or even to discuss life, faith, grief, trauma, addiction recovery, and/or therapeutic rehabilitation of your OWN life, Joseph is THAT guy who will always pray for you and your family and cheer you on!

Joseph married his wife Bailey in January 2026, when they combined their two families and their individual business endeavors alongside one another to create a super team of awesome. They have several children between the two of them, and you might see Bailey or any of the kids around in pictures and videos when following Joseph on social media for updates on your dog’s training progress! If you’re lucky you may run into any of them and get to say hello during your dog’s intake or go-home. They all play different parts in helping simulate different training scenarios to help Joseph rehabilitate your dog, so they are all an important part of the Fernandez team when it comes to running Bark to Brilliance!

  • Bailey Fernandez

Wife, business manager, marketing director, chaos coordinator, you know…

  • Mayhem

The Great Dane (and giant baby) that started it all!

  • Family Support

We don’t post our kids photos online often due to personal preference and safety reasons… however! Many of our older kids help out with the care and training of your dog day to day! They sometimes help with feeding, kennel cleaning, knocking on the door, passing by as distractions, yard cleaning, observing notable behaviors as Joseph’s extra eyes and ears, existing in the same room as softer energy to work around, and so much more. It’s truly an entire family ordeal to help rehab training cases here at Bark to Brilliance! While your dog is staying with us for training, he will become a part of our family and get to know each of our kids in different ways day to day. Our children are all ages 12-24, and they help out under the direct supervision of Joseph and Bailey according to their skills, natural abilities, the energy they give off, and their ability to help create different training drills and scenarios that we are working to run your dog through in a given moment. If you see them around, don’t be afraid to say hello!

  • Our Personal Pack

Every dog here at Bark to Brilliance has a job to do in order to help rehabilitate your dog’s behaviors. Pictured at the top of this page, you’ll find several dogs in Joseph’s personal dog pack that assist him with socializing your dog and exposing him to a variety of different dog personalities and temperaments that he may come across while exploring the world with you. Our personal pack also helps by revealing and alerting Joseph to persisting body language, energy, and other subtle potentially problematic and reactive behaviors within your dog that are usually only noticeable by other dogs. These dogs have been working for Joseph for a long time, and they definitely earn their doggie treats daily! Even our family’s cat, Vega, has an important job to do for exposing your dog to small animals/cats in and around the home. Our whole pack is involved in helping your fur baby get the best possible training results through our programs.
